The Electric Picnic countdown is on and it is my only festival of 2017 so I have been planning outfits for an embarrassingly long amount of time.Full discolosure I was hoping to have this published last week but life got in the way. Even if you don’t find something to wear from this post, hopefully it will inspire you to use some items you already own in a new way for the festival.
This year my style is more floaty and boho, the weekend can be uncomfortable enough with bad weather and sleeping in a tent, that I want my clothing to be super comfortable and flowy. I have been collecting summery dresses that wouldn’t neceassarily be festival style, as they look amazing with heels, but I quite like mixing feminine dresses with chunky boots or wellies.
My first edit is all about these flirty, floaty dresses and I have kept things pretty cheap as this is the end of summer and I don’t want to spend a large amount of cash on a dress I probably wont wear again until next summer.
Next up I have some cute co-ords. Last year I wore a crop top and mini skirt and loved the look, so this is perfect for festival wear. What is great about co-ords too is that you can mix and match. The first year I went to EP I brought a shirt dress that I wore as a dress, and as a shirt with my Levis shorts. Make packing easier with mix & match pieces.
Next is the real mix & match stuff, light jackets and rain coats are essential for Irish festivals, and there is nothing like the feeling of a clean tee after a weekend of mud and sweat. Also if you are wearing wellies I always bring some over the knee boots as the rubber can irritate your skin and, even worse, remove your tan!!! I also love to keep a little tracksuit around to throw on in the morning when I need to run to the bathroom or the shop. Another essential for me is a scarf blanket. This is so functional, wear it as a scarf, sit on it in the arena and throw it on over you if you get chilly at night.
Now onto the finishing touches. I usually bring 3 styles of footwear, my Hunter wellies, a pair of boots and a pair of runners. A cute but extrememly functional cross body bag is essential and of course you need to add a little fun. Festivals is where you can be really playful with your style so don’t hold back. This year I will be wearing a headband/ crown because I just want to.
I have been counting down the days to EP since last September, and been planning my outfits almost as long! If you have to make some last minute packing decisions I hope this helps you out.
