Instagood January 2017 | The longest month ever!

I know we are half way through February but it took me a couple of weeks to get this Instagood post together as I genuinely felt like January was the longest month and I didn’t want to write about it straight away.

Now that I am in a much better February mood I can take a look back at January, which wasn’t necessarily a terrible month but like most people I was broke from Christmas, a little chubbier than I would like to be, and the weather was a downer.

The weather is still crap but I have been paid and I have started getting back into my healthier routines which means I am not as chubby as I was on January 1st, but I still have a little more work ahead of me.

All I can say is thank goodness I had celebrity big brother for the month because I was seriously anti social throughout January and wanted to just chill out in the evenings and weekends. Although Conor and I had plans for some DIY, it didn’t happen until February because January was such an unproductive month.

Ok I feel like I have started this post off on the most negative buzz ever, but you will see below that it wasn’t that bad!!!

My morning, my month and my year started with Conor bringing me a giant coffee in bed, lets start as we mean to go on, right?!

Back to work! The Christmas break doesn’t last too long when you are self employed, but I felt pretty motivated and was ready to tackle the New Year with new goals.

In December I decided to try out a new brow routine as my Anastasia Beverly Hills pencil had run out. I heard fantastic things about the Benefit range and decided to try out their Precisely My Brow pencil which is the super skinny version ideal for someone with slim brows like mine. This pencil is AMAZING and I use it pretty much every day. Lucky for me Benefit wanted to collaborate with me for the new year and sent me a Gimme Brow gel to try out. These two products together give me my best brows ever!

No matter what the time of year I like to feel a little bronzy and rely on false tans. About once a week I like to go through a full routine of which starts the night before when I exfoliate and moisturise and then follow with a glowing tan the next day. I am currently using the St Moriz primer to exfoliate, the Kiehl’s creme de corps to moisturise and the St Moriz mousse to tan. This formula feels really nourishing and gives a gorgeous even tan.

Still my favourite shoes, the rose gold Nike Cortez runners I got for Christmas are getting so much wear. These are from the kids section which you can shop here, and they are also available for adults here.

I have been downsizing my life recently, meaning I try to carry only the essentials with me. One way I have achieve this is by ditching my bulky wallet for a chic card holder. You can check out my blog post on card holders right here.

How could I walk out of Penneys without the marble duvet and pillow covers?! For Christmas Conor and I were gifted the softest Egyptian cotton sheets and pillowcases and I think there are few things more luxurious than getting into bed with new PJs and new sheets.

Perks of working from home, I always have my favourite mug for coffee. This G mug is available here.

January was such a cold month, so I was very happy to have my new Zara faux fur leopard coat to keep cosy. I love how I can wear a cream wool jumper and black jeans but the outfit looks exciting thanks to the print coat.

Similar coat here.

ALWAYS IN ALL BLACK! This day actually sucked, shortly after posting this picture I found out that Conor’s granny had passed away. I took a little break from social media that weekend as I travelled with Conor and his family to Longford for her funeral.

Trouble Maker– I love when River Island invite me to check out their new season collection as there is always something special. The first thing that caught my eye was this embroidered jacket, but there were actually lots of amazing pieces, which you can see here.

Goodbye Christmas nails, hello short and sweet nude gelish. I am currently taking a break from gelish nails but when I do get them done I go to Genevieve in Dublin 2.

Benefit know how to throw a party! I attended the launch of They’re real lipsticks and I was treated to a lot of fabulousness, including topless waiters, amazing cookies and the new lipstick collection!

Speaking of the new collection of lipsticks, I have them all swatched above! What makes these lipsticks special is that they tip of the lipstick is a darker shade to the rest, so as you apply the colour you instantly have an ombre lip hat gives a fuller appearance…. GENIUS! I have obviously been wearing the nude shade to death, but all the colours are gorgeous.

Left- right: Criminally coral, nude scandal, lusty rose, pink thrills, fuchsia fever, flame game and revved up red. Shop here.

ALWAYS IN ALL BLACK. I do try to mix as many textures as possible when wearing all black so my boucle coatigan, knit jumper and faux leather trousers make a slightly interesting combination in my opinion. I actually love this coatigan but the weather has been a little too unpredictable right now so I think I will get a lot of wear from it in Spring.

Lazy Sundays with coffee in bed and a little blogging. I am finding it harder and harder to take some time aside for my blog as work is getting busier and life gets in the way. I have always used this blog as a creative outlet and don’t put pressure on myself to provide content as often as I would like. This is a hobby, it does not pay my bills so I feel when I force myself to write it looses some of the fun. Sunday mornings are the perfect time for me to plan and think of post ideas as I am usually chilled out and not rushing to get ready and out the door.

Outfit planning, these Louboutins (Pigalle 120) are my favourite shoes as they always look chic and amazing with almost any outfit. The only problem is that they are horrible to walk and a feel really unsupportive and painful. I still can’t part from them, but I genuinly get so sad when I try to wear them and feel instant pain.

If I haven’t put you off these shoes totally, you can shop a similar pair here.

I am faux fur obsessed! I only have one coat (leopard), two jackets (this and a black) and one gillet (black) but I feel like my faux fur game is on point. No matter what the look is, I usually have a faux fur to go with it. I love this texture for winter, it is obviously a lot warmer and it looks more luxurious.

I was loving my foundation when I took this, now not so much. I got a tester of the new Armani Power Fabric fondation that is matte finish and full coverage (My two favourite things). This is a lovely foundation but I don’t know if I would say full coverage. I think I will have to stick with my Marc Jacobs remarcable foundation as it is the most full coverage foundation I have ever used and incredibly lightweight. Pity it is not available in Ireland but a friend will be in London this month and has offered to pick it up for me in London.

#TREATYOSELF Some Fridays you have just gotta buy yourself some flowers and wine because you got through the week and the month. As much as I love receiving flowers, I don’t need a special occasion to treat myself and I always find some gorgeous and cheap options in the supermarket. I think these tulips set me back about €4 in Dunnes!

Someone went shopping in Zara… ok I know I recently said that I would stop buy black items, and I would shop less in Zara, but this jumper was about €18, how could I not get it?! I have already worn it to death in about 2 weeks of owning it and it is so soft and cosy that I regret nothing!

Conor and I have been discussing a possible holiday this Summer, and if we do book something I will be straight into River Island for this gorgeous swimwear!!! If we don’t go on a holiday it will be because we decided to be mature and buy a new bed/ couch/ carpet and all of that house stuff. But I would really love a little bit of sunshine!

Last visit to Zara for a while, I promise! How could I resist this ruffle sleeve jumper for €40?! I was able to showcase the look perfectly with my cape coat from Missguided. See all of my style looks from January right here.

January ended on a high when I spent the evening with Debenhams at their Spring/ Summer fashion show. I am not getting married anytime soon, but how incredible is this wedding dress?! Perfect for the boho bride! Shop here. The night involved gorgeous fashion and some delicious G&Ts, a great way to toast the end of a super long month.

I hope your 2o17 has gotten off to a good start. So far I have had some highs and lows, but overall I am feeling positive about this year.

Until next time,

Signature 1

I started the year with a bargain beauty discussion. Looking good does not have to break the bank! See all of my favourite products here.
