Instagood December | A Festive Round-Up

If this is your first time on my website since in January HAPPY NEW YEAR! If not, welcome back!

December was probably the fastest month of the year for me, I had tunnel vision to the Christmas break and then the break between Christmas and New Years just went way too quickly.

December was also a strange month if you were in Dublin as it was really mild and quite nice out, it didn’t really feel Christmassy all month, however today is freezing cold and very grey.

This does not look like the sky on December 1st, however it was! The sky was clear and the sun was out in full blast. I also love looking up in Dublin, I think it can always really surprise you. Do you recognise this building from Grafton Street? Let me know in the comments below.

One of the biggest perks of working for yourself is that your office can be just about anywhere, even bed. I was feeling a little under the weather at the start of the month so I gave myself an easy morning and stayed in bed while I caught up on emails and sipped coffee. (Shop G mug here)

Although I had a Chrismassy feeling once Halloween was over, the festive feeling really sets in when the Late Late Toy Show comes on. I headed back to my parents house for the evening in my cheesy Christmas jumper (shop here) for a night of treats and gas kids taking over RTE.

My new favourite fragrance, and it doesn’t hurt that Boots had my name engraved on it. I posted this as a little gift inspiration on the run up to Christmas as Boots were offering engraving on a variety of products including fragrances, lipsticks and more. Shop Gucci Bamboo here.

Conor and I live close by to Dun Laoghaire town now so I love taking strolls through here on the weekends. Of course Christmas lights make everything better, and even on this dull day Dun Laoghaire just looked great to me.

When you don’t have a tree but want to decorate your house! Conor and I got our tree pretty late in the month, but I found these gorgeous gold baubles in Penneys and wanted to get the house looking a little festive. I placed the baubles in a gold look and mirror candle dish from H&M home (similar here). It actually looked really fabulous, in my humble opinion. Shop G candle here.

Powerscourt Townhouse has the most beautiful Christmas lights. I enjoyed a day of shopping with my family in town and while exploring some of the stores around Powerscourt I had to take in the stunning light display.

Did you know I knit? I am not amazing at it, but I decided to step up my knitting last month when I made a chunky knit blanket. I also knitted a second blanket using only my arms. Check it out here.

& Other Stories opened it’s doors in Dublin in December and I was thrilled to attend the opening night. I was expecting fabulous fashion but I was pleasantly surprised that amazing beauty products available. I ended up picking up some gorgeous beauty bits and really pretty jewellery, and I have been back a few more times to shop.

A little Christmas mani. I love this shade ‘Haze of Love’ from Wet n Wild, the perfect burgundy shade for December. I had my nails booked in for the end of December for a shellac manicure, so this was a DIY job.

Leopard Love! My new winter coat may not have been a practical waterproof hooded purchase, but it sure is pretty. A really cosy faux fur leopard coat from Zara kept me really warm and feeling chic throughout the party season. Shop similar here.

When you’re pretending to take a picture of your Starbucks cup, but really you want to capture the tiles on the wall. Since getting our house in October, I have become obsessed with all things interior design and regularly take pictures of tiles, carpets, shelves and more that I think would look beautiful in my home.

Treat yo self! I only picked up the Precisely, my brow pencil from Benefit in December and it is already one of my all time favourite products. I have tried and tested so many brow products that I just know straight away when something is going to suit me perfectly. I have really sparse brows is amazing for shaping and filling them. Shop here. I also picked up another bottle of the Urban Decay All Nighter setting spray. This stuff is AMAZING, it is like adding super glue to your makeup. A couple of spritz to your face and your makeup will not move at all. Shop here.

What I am actually wearing for most of Decemeber! I get home and fully dressed I will usually throw on my fluffy robe. Even in the morning if I am up and about dresses I will still have this robe on just for the extra cosiness. My personalised robe is from and it its honestly such good quality and super soft. Shop here.

There are no diets in December, although I don’t really diet any month of the year. The rolling donut has opened up near Stephen’s green and I now pass it way too often. YUM!

Conor and I finally got around to picking up our tree! Ok so we left it really late in the month so the selection was not the greatest but we love our little tree. She may but short but she is bushy! Anyway the big thing for me was really just having a Christmas tree, the last  time Conor and I lived together we only had a plant and we decorated it some twinkling lights.

There she is fully dressed. Conor and I had a great afternoon decorating our tree and house. I am now dreading taking this tree down, I love having our house looking so Christmassy and feeling particularly cosy.

Glowing for Christmas! I was going for a fun Christmas dinner ad reached for Becca Champagne Pop highlight to give me a really gorgeous glow. Shop here. As usual my eyes are Naked Ultimate Basics which is my go to palette for both day and night-time looks. Shop here.

Festive Nails from Genevieve! I treated myself to a little shellac mani for Christmas at one of my favourite spots with one of the best manicurists I know (Karla!) She recommended this beautiful deep burgundy colour with red shimmer, but the hilarious this was that my sister Tara had been in the week before and chose the exact same colour, so we had matching nails for Christmas day.

After buying so many fabulous Christmas gifts for others, I decided to treat myself when the Missguided sale started before Christmas. I picked up a jumper dress which is now sold out but there is a similar one here, and this gorgeous cape coat which I have not yet worn, but I am so exited to!

I couldn’t wait to wear my new jumper dress from Missguided and styled it with my over the knee boots from ASOS (similar here) for a comfy cosy look that felt really dressy. I only wore dresses over Christmas that were really loose-fitting and comfy, there were no bodycons in sight!

Christmas day and I am back in my parents and I decided to wear my Christian Louboutin Pigalles as I have still not moved all my shoes to my new house. WELL they lasted on my feet for about an hour, how can something so cute hurt me so much?! I wore my new faux suede trousers from Zara for Christmas dinner as they feel like leggings and have a decent stretch in them! Shop here.

OH MY DAYS! Some how my boyfriends mum managed to find the Victoria Beckham x Estee Lauder palette when she was in Chicago earlier this year and got it for me for Christmas. I am so in love. I immediately went for the bronze and brown shades but this deep green and blue colours are amazing on. I am having a lot of fun playing around with this palette. At the time of publishing I have found the palette at Selfridges which you can shop here, but other than that it seems very hard to find.

The over the knee boots were back for St Stephen’s night along with the loosest fitting dress I could find in my wardrobe. This Zara dress was one I bought in August and couldn’t stop wearing! I wore it the first three weekends of owning it, once for my mum’s birthday, then for my own and finally at Electric Picnic. I didn’t think this would work as a wintery dress, but I LOVE this outfit so much now!!! See my post on this dress here.

For St Stephen’s night I hosted drinks in my house with my friends Deborah and Karl. The night was civilised to begin with as we sipped prosecco and nibbled on Laduree macarons, but then we headed into town and became completed messes!

When I am not in my over the knee boots I am in my new rose gold nike cortez runners. My sister gave me these for Christmas and I am obsessed! I am a size 5 which means I can wear kids shoes, which means runners usually cost a little less than adults. I usually wear all black anyway, so that is exactly how I have been wearing these since Christmas and I have gotten so many compliments every time I wear them. Shop here for kids and here for womens.

After a week of eating so much crap, my bestie Greta and I strolled to Salt cafe in Avoca Monkstown for a really delicious ladies lunch. We both went for the Scallops which were amazing and shared some french fries and courgette fries. We of course could not leave Avoca without taking some of the rice krispie squares with us and we strolled home for tea and coffee. Once the teas were done the prosecco was popped and the Christmas night was in full swing… I was crying laughing for the entire day. I love a good girlie day with Greta.

About 24 hours later and I ditched the delicious scallops and fresh salad for the biggest burger around. Conor and I used to love Five Guys when we lived in Las Vegas but New Years Eve was the first time we both got to try them in Dundrum. They did not disappoint at all and I cannot wait to go back for round 2.

My New Years Eve was very tame for a couple of reasons. One being that my little sister moved to Rotterdam January 1st so Conor and I spent most of the evening at my parents house with her and the rest of my family. The second reason was that it was a really cold and gross night and New Years is one of my least favourite nights of the year for going to town as everywhere is so busy I think a lot of people go out for the sake of it. When was the last time you were in Dublin for New Years and it was amazing? The final reason is the biggest moment of our year, and our lives really, was getting the keys to our little house. What better way to celebrate the end of a huge year than by sitting fireside and enjoying our house that we have worked so hard turning it into a home.

What a month, and what a year. If you told me this time last year that I would be where I am now I probably would have laughed and cried. I love creating these posts at the end of each month as it lets me reminisce and enjoy some of the moments again. I am also writing a 2017 goals list so my next post will be about looking into the future, rather than the past.

I hope you had a wonderful Christmas break and this January isn’t too tough on you.

Until next time,

Signature 1
