The Body Shop Masks | Superfoods Review

My love/obsession with face masks is no secret, and I try to do one to two a week depending on my skin. I will usually do a cleansing and clearing one at the start of the week to make up for all the alcohol and sugar I had over the weekend, and then a hydrating one coming up to the weekend to ensure my skin is glowing and plump.

Lately I have been taking part in the mask hack known as multi-masking. This is when you take two or three masks and apply them to different areas of your face to maximise the results. The concept isn’t totally new, but it is gaining popularity as a great time saver. I will usually put a cleansing and clearing mask around my oily T zone and a moisturising and hydrating mask everywhere else.

Just as I was packing for Electric Picnic this year I received two gorgeous masks from The Body Shop, it’s like they knew my skin would be in dyer need of TLC on Monday. (They were gifts, but this is not a sponsored post).

I received the Himalayan Charcoal purifying glow mask and the Amazonian Acai energising radiance mask from the new Superfood’s mask range.

The idea of the range is to offer vegetarian/ vegan masks that can tackle the big issues our skin can face, at only €25 each. The masks contain no parabens, no silicons, no mineral oil and no parafins.

There is a mask to:

  • Hydrate- British Rose
  • Invigorate- Amazonian Acai
  • Purify- Himalayan Charcoal
  • Nourish- Ethiopian Honey
  • Illuminate- Chinese Ginseng and Rice

As mentioned I received the Charcoal and Acai masks so I can only comment on these products.

Himalayan Charcoal Purifying Glow Mask:

“Refine and revive your skin with our Himalayan Charcoal Purifying Glow Mask. Inspired by Ayurvedic traditions, this 100% vegan tingling clay mask is infused with bamboo charcoal, green tea leaves and organic tea tree oil. And it’s been formulated without parabens, paraffin, silicone or mineral oil. This invigorating charcoal face mask draws out impurities and refines the appearance of pores for healthy-looking skin with a glow that shows.

    • 100% vegan
    • Tingling charcoal clay mask
    • Absorbs excess oil
    • For skin that needs extra purification to reveal a healthy, youthful glow
    • Formulated without parabens, paraffin, silicone or mineral oil
    • Ideal to create a facial at home
    • Packed with bamboo charcoal from the Himalayan Foothills, green tea leaves from Japan and organic Community Trade tea tree oil from Kenya”

My Thoughts:

This could be a contender for luxury masks such as Glamglow  and Dermalogica. I have used this mask about four times now and it is amazing. I can really feel it get to work in my oily T zone, and I love how it tightens my skin. I apply this mask to my chin, nose and forehead and it has helped keep breakouts at bay. It dries really quickly (within 10 mins) and my skin stays clear and is glowing every time I use this mask. I am hooked, this is a big winner for me!

Amazonian Acai Energising Radiance Mask:

“Give your skin a wake up call with our Amazonian Acai Energising Radiance Mask. Inspired by the rituals of Amazonian tribes, our juicy 100% vegan face mask is a bouncy blend containing acai berry, guarana and babassu oil and is formulated without parabens, paraffin, silicone or mineral oil. This vibrant face mask exfoliates and invigorates sleepy skin to help it look wide awake.

    • 100% vegan
    • Fresh juicy face mask
    • For skin that needs a fast recharge from signs of fatigue and stress.
    • Invigorates, smoothes and fights the appearance of fatigue
    • Ideal to create a facial at home
    • Infused with acai berry, guarana and Community Trade babassu oil all from Brazil
    • Formulated without parabens, paraffin, silicone or mineral oil”

My Thoughts:

This mask smells so good I want to spread it across a scone! This is the type of mask I like to use before the weekend to ensure my skin looks bright. This mask does not dry into the skin, but there is still a gentle exfoliation when you wash it off thanks to little seed like beads. My skin drinks this mask and and I experience a lovely glow after use.
If I am multi masking, I will apply this mask everywhere on my face except for my T zone where I have the charcoal mask applied.

If you follow me on snapchat you may have noticed that I am forever staying in during the week and wearing all sorts of masks. I have to say although I really love the Amazonian Acai mask, the Himalayan Charcoal mask is my obsession. For my combination/ breakout prone skin this mask is a total dream. It feels much more expensive than €25, and I think it could be a tough contender to the luxury Glamglow. It helps dry out excess oil from my pores, clear existing breakouts and prevents future breakouts. If you are prone to breakouts, than I 100% recommend this mask.

What is your all time favourite face mask? I would love to know in the comments below.

Stay gorgeous!
