Summer Favourites | Beauty Must Haves

I would love if I could bring a monthly favourite post to my blog, but it takes me a while to really test out and decide as to whether or not I love something. The last time I brought you one of these posts was all the way back in April! (check that post out here).

This post really focuses on beauty with a mix of makeup, skincare and hair products. Some of these items have been kindly gifted to me, and I will mark those products as gifted for clarity.

I have been putting these products to the test all Summer and I am finally ready to give you my honest opinion, but before I do I just want to make one thing clear. If something works for me it doesn’t necessarily for everyone, and vice versa.

Aussie Beach Mate: I have been pretty loyal to Batiste when it comes to dry shampoo, but I decided to branch out and try something new on a trip to Boots. I am a huge fan of the Aussie hair care range, not just because every product smells amazing, but that is a pretty big reason why. The Beach Mate dry shampoo is no exception when it comes to the signature scent, but it packs a big punch when tackling limp or lifeless hair. I have dry hair and can usually get a couple of days between washing before my hair looks greasy, but it will look flat. This dry shampoo brings volume to the roots, and gives your entire hair a lovely lift and a little texture. What I really love about this dry shampoo is that it is clear, unlike similar products that can leave white dusty patches in your hair. SHOP HERE.

Viviscal Densifying Elixer *gifted*: I always add a serum or oil to my hair after washing, so I didn’t think I would notice a big difference switching things up, unless it was for the worse. And to be totally honest I didn’t really notice a huge difference. It wasn’t damaging my hair or weakening it, but I wasn’t seeing a shocking improvement. The elixer claims to thicken the hair, but my hair is naturally thick-ish, however it also says it will reduce hair fall and thats where I noticed this product working its magic! Apologies if you find this next part a bit gross, BUT, I am constantly having hair fall out. Not drastic amounts, but I leave my mark in the shower. Over the past couple of months I have realised that less and less hair is falling out in the shower, when I brush my hair and just in general life. My hair feels healthy and looks shiny, so over all I have to say I am impressed and will continue to use this product in the future. SHOP HERE.

Nip + Fab Extreme Glycolic Night Pads: I have been using the regular glycolic pads from Nip+ Fab for months and really noticed an improved texture in my skin (read my full review here). I decided to go one step further and try the EXTREME version, along with the classic. The name might put some people off, but they really are not that intense, the glycolic acid is 5%, which is the same amount in many other glycolic products. Nowadays I use the normal pads in the morning and these at night, but not everyday. These pads are designed to exfoliate the skin, so if I am using a scrub or a mask I do not want to irritate the skin by double exfoliating. These pads are great for decongesting pores, brightening the skin and gently fade scars or pigmentation. SHOP HERE.

Dermalogica Charcoal Rescue Mask *gifted*: I am a face mask lover and treat myself to an at home facial once to twice a week. I have written about masks before, here, and discussed how I usually want to clear and decongest my pores and give my skin a glow. Well this mask does that and more. I won’t go through every ingredient, because there are a lot, but this is what it claims to do: absorbs impurities, promotes cell turnover, brightens skin, reduces congestion, calms skin and refines pores! What else could you want? As someone with oily/ congestion prone skin, I see a huge benefit from applying this once a week. What I really love about this mask is how once it dries you cannot move your face! It really locks into skin until you wash it off. Once you do wash it off your skin is super soft. This is a must have for me! SHOP HERE.

All lipsticks, and all shockingly similar, but I am a sucker for a nude lip! See below for swatches.

The Balm Girls Mai Billsbepaid *gifted*: This creamy nude pink has earned its place in my handbag, and is a go-to when I want a simple- no fuss but pretty lip. I usually opt for a matte lip, but this creamy lipstick conditions your lips while you wear it. BONUS the lipstick smells of mint and vanilla. SHOP HERE.

Urban Decay Vice Back Talk *gifted*: For me and my colouring, this is the perfect nude lipstick! It has a stronger pink colour to it, rather than a barely there nude, so it does make a statement. It is matte, which I LOVE, but not drying. SHOP HERE.

Seventeen Mega Matte Nude News *gifted*: When seventeen come out with a matte lipstick range that are under €7 each, you know I am already obsessed! These are guilt free treats, as they are just so cheap and cheerful. Although the longevity may not be at the same level as Urban Decay, they are beautifully pigmented lipsticks, so you just need to top up your lips a little more often, but I am not complaining. SHOP HERE.

NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream Cannes: When a matte lip isn’t drying, it rocks my world! The NYX soft cream range is amazing and I have a couple of shades, but Cannes is the one I reach for the most. The colour lasts really well and this shade in particular is bolder nude shade, leaning towards beige/brown. SHOP HERE.

From Left to Right: The Balm, Urban Decay, Seventeen and NYX.

Eye Makeup:

Two totally different eyeliners, both a must have in my makeup bag!

NYX Wonder Pencil: It lives up to its name, this pencil is wonderful! I use it on water line but the nude shade does allow you to use it all over the face. If you want to do some concealer, or outline your lips, this pencil does it all! SHOP HERE.

YSL Waterproof Stylo 2: First of all, when a pencil is twistable and I don’t need to dig out my pencil sharpener, that already makes my day! Secondly, this waterproof pencil does not budge from eyes, waterline or tightlined on the upper lid. My eyes are sensitive, and some eyeliners can get me weepy but this one os fabulous and lasts so well! SHOP HERE.

We have talked about the hits, now I just want to mention a couple of misses for me. Again, just as these particular products didn’t work for me, doesn’t mean they wont be amazing for someone else.

Seventeen Cream Bronzer: This colour is just too warm. I tried wearing it a couple of times over the Summer and it just translated as orange on my skin. I usually go for cooler shades when contouring and bronzing, and this was just really bright on my skin. SHOP HERE.

NYX Matte lipstick Nude Diaphane: A nude lipstick I just didn’t like- never thought I would see the day! I do love NYX products but I prefer the matte lip creams compared to the matte lipsticks, as they are softer on the lips. This colour was very bright on, but I find it patchy at the same time. It just didn’t work for me, and I didn’t find it as long wearing as the lip creams. SHOP HERE.

Maybelline The Falsies Push Up Drama Mascara: I have always been a big follower of Maybelline mascara, and was very excited by the packaging of this one, I mean it is  just so pretty. It let me down with clumpiness. It could just be my lashes, and someone else could find this mascara amazing, but it just didn’t suit me and I always made a mess of my lashes when I used it. I am a huge fan of their Mega Plush mascara, so I am back to using that now. SHOP HERE.

And that is that! Have you tried any of these products? Are any of them major hits for you? Let me know in the comments below 🙂

Until next time,

Signature 1
