I am back with another installment of my instagood months! I took a blogging break in July and never did my June round up, but I am back with a quick peek at highs and lows of July.
This Summer has just flown in, and unfortunately I did not get a chance to travel abroad, but I kept myself busy with some mini adventures, brunches and cocktails.
SUMMER GLOW: I think everyone is having a highlight moment, and I am t0tally in love and obsessed with the Mary Lou-Manizer from The Balm. This powder is honey-hued and super creamy. When I really want my highlight to be seen from space I layer this with Champagne pop.
BRONZE BODY: As a super pale and freckly Irish person, I need all the help I can get in the Summer to look like I have enjoyed a little sunshine. I started using the Bondi Sands tan and really loved the results on my skin. It gives a gorgeous even bronze colour to the skin, however it DESTROYS sheets and clothes. I am used to having some tan stains on my bed clothes and white tees, but they usually come out pretty easily in the wash. This tan fades to a pinkish colour but is nearly impossible to completely remove from white fabric. For that reason I have switched tans once again. If you can deal with permanent tan stains, than this may be a product for you, but it is not for me.
DATE NIGHT: I actually posted about this entire look and the amazing food Conor and I enjoyed on a recent night out, which you can read all about here. I love heading out every so often just the two of us!
PARIS LOVE: Certain fragrances always make me think of a certain place or time or person. I was generously gifted the new YSL fragrance ‘Mon Paris’ and I love the idea that this scent will remind of this Summer every time I smell it. The scent itself is light, fruity and floral. If you do pass by a YSL counter in the future you should take a minute of your time and get a quick spritz.
POP OF COLOUR: If you have been following my blog for a while you will know that I live in black and white, so I loved the return of the bandana this Summer. This is such a simple way of adding a pop of colour to any look, and being really on trend.
GIANT MIRROR SELFIE: The lovely Kellie from Let Them Have Fashion joined me for the River Island Autumn/ Winter press preview. We got to have a sneak peak at some gorgeous winter coats and beautiful boots, which you can see in my full post here. We couldn’t pass us the opportunity to take a little selfie in the biggest mirror possible, as River Island had arranged for a photo booth that printed off any pics shared on instagram using their #RIAW16 hashtag. Can you spot any familiar faces on the board below?
LIPSTICK IS MY VICE: I was delighted to receive another fabulous gift in the post, this time from Urban Decay. I actually received 5 lipsticks in total, but between my mum and sisters I was left with 3. The three lipsticks swatched here are BackTalk (the nude pink), 714 (the matte red) and FireBird (The creamy deep Pink). BackTalk is now a handbag staple and I always keep it at hand. Shop online here.
REFRESH: Lovely chats with Kellie from Let Them Have Fashion once again, this time at the Sophie’s rooftop balcony at The Dean. I am so in love with my little Mulberry bag that I picked up in the Summer sale, see more here.
GORGEOUS GOLD: I have been working off a second hand macbook for over 2 years now, and it was pretty much a deaths door (over heating, the screen would go white, battery didn’t last… the list goes on). I have been lusting after this gold macbook for so long now, and I finally was able to spoil myself with one after some brilliant success at work. It was actually a really big moment for me to purchase this, as it is a symbol of hard work and the most expensive thing I have ever paid for myself!
SUNNY DUBLIN: Irish people lose their minds when the sun shines in Ireland, and I was delighted to spend an afternoon up the The Blue Light pub one weekend to really soak in the sun. Sure we would have been in Spain it was that glorious.
BED HEAD: I love my shorter hair for Summer, but I want to head back to Michael soon and go even shorter! To see how I highlighted my hair at home, click here.
NUDE NAILS: My new nail spot in town is Genevieve near Powerscourt. It opened earlier this Summer and it is really handy for me to pop into after work. I am not very adventurous when it comes to my nails and usually keep them short and a neutral with a gelish colour.
BRING ON THE NIGHT: I ventured to Flash Harrys in Blackrock for a couple of drinks and catchups with friends from college. It is so weird that I am graduated about 5 years now, but I still try to meet up with friends every couple of months.
SIX YEARS: July 24th marked six years since Conor and I were introduced. Time really flies, but at the same time I feel like I have known him forever.
I AM VERY BUSY: I love my Ban.do diary from My Shining Armour! It started August 1st, so before the end of the month I did sit down and fill in a couple of key dates. The tropical notepad is from Penneys hun!
LONGITUDE: Last minute I decided to head to the Saturday of Longitude festival and it was the best day…. the night on the other hand gets a little fuzzy but still great craic! To be fair, I was with a really fun group, so even if we were chilling in someones garden we still would have had a great time!
SUMMER GLOW: I don’t know how girls pick up that extreme highlight glow in photos, I had layered quite a bit of Champagne Pop and Mary Lou-Manizer and in real life the glow was blinding, but I just couldn’t quite pick up how extreme it was in this photo.
KIEHLS X LAURA MVULA X MTV STAYING ALIVE: When indulging in skincare is guilt free! For every limited edition of the Ultra Facial Cream sold, Kiehls will donate €11.50 to support projects in India, Rwanda and Ghana that empower young women.
MATTE LIP LOVES: Seventeen cosmetics have come out with a range of 12 mega matte shades that are only €6.29 each! These three shades are called Nude News, Lava You Lot and Rioja Your World, can you guess which one is in my bag right now? NUDE OBSESSED!
PRETTY PINKS: I visited my favourite boutique in Blackrock, Mademoiselle. with my mum as she was looking for something special for her birthday. Although there were so many gorgeous Summery tops and dresses in the shop, I was immediately attracted to think pink wool coat. Although I cannot justify it right now, this piece is on my wish list. I love visiting small and independent boutiques as you can find really unique pieces that you just don’t see on the high street.
COFFEE ADDICT: Up bright and early on a Saturday morning for a workshop with one of my favourite Irish bloggers Anouska in The Dean hotel. It was such a warm and sunny day that I decided to wear a little black dress from Topshop, dressed down with a pair of Adidas runners.
SELFIE: Ending the month with a day of Rose and gorgeous company. I love my girl Greta (pictured) and we laughed all day long with Sarah and Doireann who you can kind of see in my sunglasses (Doireann is one half of BlogBeauties!).
I don’t have any real complaints from the month, obviously I have my bad days or even moments, but these monthly roundups really help me focus on the positives! If you have a blog than I 100% recommend trying a post like this out, or even just take notes in a journal of little moments that make you happy.
I hope you are having a wonderful day/week/ month!
Until next time,
