Most years I totally lose my mind over the sales and spend way too much money on a tonne of pieces from Zara, Topshop, H&M and my favourite high street stores. This year I decided to allow myself one thing, so it had to be one BIG thing right? When I say big, this bag is actually quite small, but the price tag was larger than my average spend.
A couple of weeks ago I wrote about my obsession with cross-body bags and how I wanted to invest in a really good one. I spoke about brands like Kate Spade, Michael Kors and DKNY, where the price tags range between €100-€200 on average, anything higher would be out of my justifiable price range for a cross-body bag. (What I mean by that is I would happily spend more but I would be one of those gals with a crazy expensive bag and no money to put inside it.)
My sister got the cutest cross-body bag from Mulberry last Christmas, and every time she wears it I always think just how perfect it is. It is simple and elegant, small but big enough to carry the essentials, and as it is Mulberry the quality is fantastic.
This bag, the Blossom Pochette, ended up going into sale at 50% off, so I could not resist picking one up in taupe. The reason behind this colour choice is that my sister owns the black, which would be my first choice, but I didn’t want to totally copy her. Especially when you spend so much on a bag, you want it to be special and not see it everywhere you go. I also own a ridiculous amount of black bags, so going for a different colour is actually ideal for me. There were a lot of bright and bold colours available and I was tempted by a beautiful red, however, the taupe shade really suits my wardrobe. It is a fabulous neutral, looks great when I am wearing all black, but also goes well with lighter and bright outfits.
I almost didn’t buy this bag because I felt a little guilty spending €180 on such a small bag, but my boyfriend Conor did convince to pull the trigger, so if you are considering making the purchase this might help:
- Mulberry is known for amazing quality
- Small bags are so chic and practical
- I can wear this for nights out and everyday!
- If you wear this bag once a week for a year (although it will last you a lot longer) it costs €3.50 per wear! That’s basically a cup of coffee!
- Yes you might have less money this month after a big purchase but next month you will be back to normal and have a gorgeous bag!
Let me know what you think of my new bag, is that way too much money for such a small bag? Or would you love to get your hands on something similar?
Until next time,
