This is the first time I am doing this style of post, which funny because I LOVE reading monthly favourites! Anyway I have a couple of products that over the last couple of months I have been trying out and I either LOVE or else just didn’t work for me.
I buy so many beauty products there is nothing worse than feeling like you wasted money, which is why I love these style of posts. Obviously if a product didn’t work for me, it doesn’t mean it won’t work for you, or that I dislike the brand.
Let’s get started with the good news first, my favourites:
I picked up this product when in New York on a mini spree at Sephora. I had heard of all the setting sprays available, this is the one that truly holds your makeup in place all day and all night and I have to say it is true.
I have combination skin that tends to get a little oily and makeup can slick off my T Zone half way through the day, but this setting spray really holds it in place. It is about €30, but I have been using mine for about 3 months now and I feel like it is practicaly full. Shop here.
I know this is not a new product, and I used to use beauty blenders all the time and then for some reason I stopped. A couple of months ago I picked up a cheaper alternative in Boots and even though it was a grand sponge, it doesn’t hold a candle to the original beauty blender. I actually can’t remember the last time I reached for one of my foundation brushes, this little sponge gives a gorgeous finish for foundation, concealers, liquid and cream highlight and contour, pretty much anything you can blend on your face. This fab sponges are now available in Boots which makes it so easy to pick up a fresh beauty blender when necessary.
I have been lashing on this Nouveau Lash Conditioner since about Christmas and I have noticed a big difference in my lashes since. I recently had individual lashes applied and I continued to brush this conditioner along the roots of my upper lashes to ensure they stayed healthy. This product is also amazing for anyone trying to grow out their eyebrows. Shop here.
Ok so I don’t really notice the difference in quality between this nail polish remover and the other brands that I have tried, but the smell is incredible! The scent is blueberry and pomegranate and I adore it. I hate the smell of really harsh polish remover, and how it can linger for hours, but this just smells delicious.
This mask just ticks so many boxes for me, and my skin just loves it! Ok first of all it comes in a squeeze tube which I adore. I think it is crazy how expensive face masks come in jars that you expose to air and bacteria, the same for pretty much any products: pumps and tubes are the way to go! Secondly this mask is suitable for all skin types, which is great because sometimes my skin is oily, sometimes there are dry patches and every once in a while it is pretty normal. What this mask actually does is pretty fabulous:
- Collagen – helps improve skin’s suppleness and elasticity
- Hyaluronic Acid + Vitamin E – helps plump skin with moisture and promote cellular renewal
- Passion Flower oil – a superior oil rich in vitamin C, calcium and phosphorous. Full of essential fatty acids to hydrate skin deeply.
- Charcoal + Volcanic Lava Sand – helps to draw out impurities and remove dead skin cells to reveal a healthier glow.
This is my favourite mask to pop on when my I think my skin needs a little treat, and I want to pay attention to a couple of problems. Shop here.
As I have mentioned a million times on here, I have an oily T-zone! To combat it I do apply this primer but only where needed on my face. I made the mistake of putting this all over my face, and it was really too much. For example, if I put this on my upper lip than the primer helps my foundation cling to every blonde hair, giving me a moustache! Now I apply a very small amount around my chin, the sides of my nose and forehead. This helps my makeup stay all day and prevents my skin from shiny. Shop here.
Once again let me just say that these products did not work for me, but that does not mean that they won’t work for you, or I could even be using the incorrectly.
This was actually a gift with purchase, thank goodness because it is TERRIBLE! This did not clean my beauty blender at all! I used so much of the product and my little pink sponge was still caked in foundation. It seems the internet is in agreement that the best way to clean a beauty blender is with a small bar of soap (see tutorial here). Beauty blenders need to be cleaned so often that buying a specific cleanser for them could get pricey, but honestly I thought this cleanser was crap and bars of soap are the way to go!
I LOVE LOVE LOVE Nip + Fab and I really did enjoy this serum when I first started trying it out. This serum uses blur technology to soften the appearance of imperfections, while it works on reducing the visibility of fine lines and wrinkles, sounds good to me. The problem I had with this product was that it didn’t absorb into my skin properly and would ball up on my skin. I used this serum before my moisturiser and obviously before any makeup, and it was a terrible base. If this layer of my beauty routine is not working properly than it really messes up all the layers to follow. This product is reduced on the Nip + Fab website and that makes me think they are discontinuing this particular product. One of my favourite serums that I would recommend instead is the Hydraluron serum from Indeed labs.
I would love to know if you totally disagree with me on any of these products in the comments below. All of these items are shopable, just click the images and you can purchase online!
Until next time,
