Mad Max | The Five Wives | Halloween 2015

fury-road

Mad Max wasn’t exactly my favourite movie of the year, but I will watch anything with Tom Hardy in it! A fun group costume idea for Halloween could be the characters from Mad Max, especially the five wives.

If you have not seen the movie, it is set in a post apocalyptic world where there is nothing but dessert. The clothing is a little ragged and in all neutral colours. If you were really handy with making costumes, than I would suggest putting something together from an old bed sheet stained with tea.

Luckily there are tonnes of neutral pieces of clothing available in store right now, think Kanye’s collections at NYFW.

All of the pieces I have chosen below can be worn again, and are all great pieces to add to your wardrobe.

To complete the grubby look, you can take an eyeshadow brush and a brown shadow and randomly apply it to your face and body. This will give the appearance that you have travelled through the desert.

For finishing touchesΒ you could also add stray pieces of cloth around the arms or legs, again tea stained or dirty if possible.

Keep hair looking natural and avoid anything too glamorous. Think natural waves from sleeping in a plait or letting your hair dry naturally.

Although you don’t need five of you to complete the look, this would make a great group costume. Remember when picking out different pieces to wear, keep the colour palette natural and neutral. The five wives are the only characters who need feminine clothing, so if you are looking to dress up as other characters, than trousers and boots would work perfectly.
