Last week I published my current skincare routine (read it here) and all the products I use, which I believe have improved my skin dramatically. The blog post was just so long I couldn’t include all of my favourite face mask, and I felt they deserved their own post.
I usually apply face masks twice a week, depending on how busy I am and how my skin is. I tend to take an approach of applying cleansing and clearing masks at the beginning of the week, to undo all the food and drinks etc from the weekend, and closer to the weekend I go down the moisturising mask route as I want dewy and glowy skin.
If you are really busy you don’t have to take too much time out of your day to enjoy a great face mask, I can apply one and let it get to work while I continue with chores, but if you can take out fifteen minutes to relax that is ideal.
All the masks I use are pretty affordable, as I have a Boots obsession and thats where I find most of them.
First up is my hydraluron mask, which is a physical mask that you place over the face that is soaked in hyaluronic acid and other moisture boosting ingredients. This facemask is so cooling and refreshing and is what I reach for when I need a moisture boost. This is great if I am a little hungover, throughout the freezing winter or when I have been out in the sun, basically when I feel my skin is on the dry side. I usually apply this mask twice a month, although it is recommended once a week. I will leave this on my face for up to an hour, until I feel it is mostly absorbed to the skin, I will then massage the remaining product into my face. Shop here.
Next I have my Yes to Tomatoes combination clearing mask which is a a deep cleansing pore mask. I love applying this to my skin after a particularly sweating gym session, or when I feel a break out coming on as it has sebum absorbers which prevent spots. This only needs 5 minutes on the skin, which is great as I can apply it before jumping in the shower. Shop here.
GlamGlow is next and I need to explain a couple of months ago I received two samples of the GlamGlow mud in the original youth mud and the cleansing and clearing mud. In the image is the cleansing and clearing (white packaging) although I didn’t actually love this product. I found it slightly harsh on my skin and the tingle was more like a sting! I did LOVE the original youth mud which has black packaging but I have used it all and didn’t have the tube to include in the picture. Ok now that is explained I can tell you I loved the youth mud and hope to invest in a full size jar soon. If you haven’t tried glamglow before here is exactly what it does to your skin: Increases Collagen production, brightens the skin, softens and smooths the skin, exfoliates, softens fine lines and wrinkles, tightens, tone and lifts the skin, reduces dark circles, minimises pores and absorbs impurities.
What doesn’t it do? Anyway I really liked using this mask and I would like to invest in a jar soon.
My fourth mask is the Soap and Glory Fab Pore 2 in 1 mask and peel. This is a product that focuses on pores to clear blackheads and breakouts. Leave on the skin for 5 minutes for a quick scrub or keep it on the skin at 15 minutes for a deep scrub. If my skin is feeling a little dull, grimey and oily this is usually what I reach for. I tend to apply it specifically around my T zone area, as there is where I would have oily skin, clogged pores and blackheads. Shop here.
Last but not least is my Good Things Brightening mask. This is my wonder mask that ticks so many boxes for me, and what I reach for when I am looking dull and grey. There are a couple of elements to this mask and it starts with the white clay which draws out any congestion from the pores. The papaya extract brightens the skin to give a lovely glow and the manuka honey and beeswax nourish and hydrate the skin. When I am travelling this is usually what I take with me. It is really like on the skin and feels great to wear. Shop here.
I recently tried out the Skin Logic 24k gold eye masks and LOVED THEM! I would apply them at night and sleep with them on and the next morning my eye area would feel so soft and refreshed. I am visiting the Pro Beauty Show later this month and I will 100% be getting more of these masks there. Shop here.
I love a good mask! Who doesn’t? I would love to hear what your favourites are, as I am always looking out for lovely new masks.
Until next time,
