DIY Bleaching Jeans | Classic and Wilde

I love a good eBay bargain, and I recently purchased a pair of mens Levi jeans with plans of chopping them up into little jean shorts (see my DIY post here for cutting jeans). I thought I would be ok with a beige/ cream colour but in person it just didn’t look good to me, so I set about lightening them to an off white.

All you need:

  • A basin
  • a bleach
  • water

I popped the shorts into a basin and filled it up with bleach and water, using a ration of 1 part bleach to 3 parts water. I made sure that the shorts were completely submerged in the water and bleach, as I wanted the fade to be as even as possible.

I left the jeans to sit over night and once I was happy with the colour I rinsed them in the washing machine.

I am really happy with colour I achieved through bleaching, and I was pleasantly surprised that the red tab and or label were not affected by the bleaching. I know the difference is very small, but I really just wanted to get rid of the yellow tone that was present in the shorts in their original colour.

Ok so not the craziest post I have ever written, but I was really happy with the results and wanted to share them with you all. Now I am going to rip them to shreds so that they are super distressed for Electric Picnic!

You can see my full packing list for Electric Picnic here.

Until next time,

Signature 1

I ripped these ASOS jeans also, I obviously have a problem, and you can read the details of this look here.ย
