Thursday last week was a little bit of a family affair as my mum, my sister Tara and I headed to the Grape and Gander luxury fitness wear launch at 10 St. Stephens green.
Before making our way to the fabulous venue, the three of us went to Gotham Cafe for a delish dinner. I went with the garlic prawns (which were ridiculously large and delicious), chips and a cheeky glass of pinot grigio. This has become one of my favourite lunch and dinner spots as the food is always amazing, and whatever they do with the hand cut chips is just magical. Totally recommend this place.
I was coming straight from work so all black attire was essential. I had packed a pair of leather trousers and cage heels in my bag and I was good to go at 6pm.
I was disappointed to be missing out on the Thomas Sabo event taking place in Arnotts as the new love bridge pieces look amazing, but dinner with the family had to come first.
Apologies for the poor lighting, I had intended on taking a better outfit picture, but the evening got away from me.
What I Wore:
I hate that my go to pose was hand-on-the-hip! I hate getting my picture taken and always go SUPER AWKWARD. My sister on the other hand, who just happens to be the Grape and Gander model, looks effortless.
I love the G & G in lights, I would really love just one G for me.
I had invited a couple of fellow bloggers along to the event and it was great to have a catch up with:
if I have left anyone out I am very sorry!!!
I shared a video on my snapchat (ginakiely) of the collection, but to really appreciate the quality of these pieces you need to get up close and personal.
The Grape and Gander gals are Aoife and Grace, who I have both known for most of my life, but haven’t actually seen since school. Aoife and I were in primary school together and Grace’s mum is my mum’s bestie. Such a small world.
The two ladies came together to create Grape and Gander as it combined two of their biggest passions: Fashion and Fitness.
Grace has always been involved in many different sports from a young age. Her sporting achievements enabled her to go to University in the UK on a Sports Scholarship where she not so surprisingly studied Sports and Exercise Science. She now is a Fitness Instructor, Pilates teacher and an athlete. She is a regular competitor on the Athletics Circuit. Her day job requires her to teach children and adults, inspiring them to become fitter and healthier.
After a four-year degree in English and Media Aoife packed up her bags and headed for the great city of London. Here she worked for the award-winning British Designer Stella McCartney. After two years in the big smoke she moved further afield to the very glamourous New York. Aoife is nutrition obsessed enjoying her achievable task of finding the perfect eating plan, achieving a three stone weight loss through regular exercise and clean eating. Yoga has dominated Aoife’s attention for the last three years and takes part in Yoga retreats all over the world.
Given both of their backgrounds, who better to know and understand what women want when they are working out. Long gone are the days of heading to the gym in baggy and scruffy gear. We want clothing that is supportive, fitted, and of course fashionable. I love the chosen colours for this collection, and they really have covered every detail you could imagine. The fabric is breathable but totally supportive as it lifts and holds you in place. I love the thumb holes (I don’t know if there is a more fashionable term) in the jacket, and the fabric which tucks the zip in under your chin. The waist band of the pants is great as you can wear them high or low, which is great if you want to hold in a little tummy. The pants are also squat proof, which is amazing! I only recently realised that my €10 gym leggings from Penneys are NOT squat proof, and half the gym has been able to tell what kind of underwear I have been wearing once a week!!!!
OH HEY TARA- my little sister the model, although she is not actually a model. Grace is her trainer and she asked Tara to get involved as she had the look they wanted for the website.
Congratulations to both Aoife and Grace on a brilliant launch and a really fabulous line of activewear. Thanks for checking out my latest post,
