As I mentioned on my recent Valentine’s post, my gift to Conor this year was a trip to one of Ireland’s most amazing steak restaurants, Shanahan’s on the Green.
I have been once before, see post here, and we have been talking about these amazing steaks for over a year.
I was planning on totally indulging on Saturday night, so I kept it comfortable. I tried my best not to wear my faux leather pants, but they are just so comfortable and chic. They have a hidden elastic waistband which makes them the perfect pants for indulging in giant slabs of steak, drinks and dessert. But honestly I tried my best to wear something else for a change, but I just couldn’t do it!

Prior to Shanahan’s we decided to head to The Dean for cocktails. I mentioned a while back how I visited The Dean in December and the service was terrible but I was giving it an allowance because it was brand new. Well this is February and the service is still a joke, the doorman do not want to let anyone under 40 through the door and the bar staff do not want to take your drinks order, and expecting a smile is asking for way too much. It is a really pretty hotel, and the views from the rooftop are fantastic, but not good enough to see passed the laughable service.
We decided to skip the starters and go straight to the steaks. I ordered the Filet Mignon with sides of fries and onion strings. Although I was perfectly full after our mains, I still decided to indulge in a giant chunk of cheese cake. I impressed myself by actually finishing half of it, but it was insanely good and totally worth it.
Not only is the food incredible, but the service is also five-star. The staff at Shanahan’s make you feel totally at home and relaxed.
This is one of the best places to go for a special occasion or a treat, and I recommend it to anyone who loves steak.
