Loving Leather

I have a terrible habit of spending my lunch hour popping in and out of shops around Grafton Street in Dublin, which means I see A LOT of items that I didn’t realise that I wanted/ needed before 1pm. Today I was browsing around and couldn’t help but fall in love with four different leather jackets. I live in my black leather jacket, I have a couple of other colours, but the lining of my black one is literally falling apart. Although I am nowhere near ready to get rid of it, I think it’s time to invest in a new one.

The first stop on my ramble about town was into Zara. They have a fabulous selection of leather/ faux leather jackets but one in particular stood out to me. It is black with either yellow gold or rose gold zips and claps (it looked rose in the store but that could just be the lighting). This is real leather and you can tell as soon as you touch it. The shape is really sleek and flattering and it has a very cool vintage look to it.

The second stop on my walk-about was All Saints (don’t ask me why I even allow myself look at their jackets, I’d have to sell a Kidney to get my hands on this one!). I was immediately drawn to this jacket from the moment I walked in the door, in fact I didn’t even browse the rest of the clothes because I had to get myself out of their before I contemplated putting this jacket on my credit card and having to go without food for the next month! Anyway the details are amazing, the leather is buttery soft and it is just the right weight that you know you will be super cosy in it.

(warning: the price may bum you out, as it did me)

Next on my tour of stores of things I cannot afford, was Karen Millen. Another black biker jacket with really amazing detail, super soft and supple leather, and a price tag that made me frown. Don’t get me wrong, if I had a healthier bank account I think investing in a leather jacket is the way to go, I live in mine and you know they are going to be in style for a very long time, if not forever!

(warning: this is even more expensive than the last)

After looking at that price tag I needed to find comfort in an affordable piece of clothing, so off to Topshop I went. Don’t get me wrong, a leather jackets in Topshop is expensive, however, they do have some amazing faux leather jackets too which are pleasantly affordable. I personally liked this one which is called the ‘ultimate faux leather jacket’, a name I find pretty appropriate. I like the detachable faux fur collar, and the leather actually looks real. This jacket is very clean and simple, and doesn’t quite have the vintage feel that most of the others had, but I think this would be a great addition to any wardrobe.

This jacket seems to have sold out since I posted this, the same jacket in Petite is available here

And this jacket is also available, again in faux leather.

Oh how I wish my bank account had a couple of extra zeros at the end, I would probably give each of these jackets a new home and show them so much love. To be fair I think I will buy the Topshop jacket as it is really affordable, but looks a lot more expensive than it actually is. Which is your favourite?

Thank you for reading,

To match your new leather jacket, you may need some new ankle boots, look at my wishlist here.
