I have been really fed up with my skin lately, I’m 26 years old (27 this month) and I still get breakouts, usually hormonal. However, in the past 3 months my skin has been even worse than usual. Rather than 1 or 2 spots a month, I was starting to breaking in 5s and 10s.
I was trying everything I could think of, I switched cleansers, I was applying masks, using acne products and still nothing would work. My skin has suddenly become quite sensitive and it seems like no matter what I do it end up being red and sore with large spots and tiny red dots 😦 I tried every product I could get my hands on, DIY remedies and even left my skin without any products to see if anything helped.
Fortunately I regularly visit Hyde Grooming and the owner, Liza recommended that I try the Heaven Skincare limited edition cleanser.
This cleanser was specifically designed for a celebrity client, who is rumoured to be Victoria Beckham, who has suffered from hormonal breakouts as an adult.
I noticed a difference from day 1 of trying it. Immediately my the redness had gone down and the breakouts felt less sensitive or sore. Obvious my skin did not change overnight but after using the cleanser for 1 week almost all of my spots had disappeared! I was absolutely amazed as over the last 3 months I had been dealing with this terrible skin.
I have been using the product for about a month now and although I still have the odd spot pop up, it is nowhere near as bad as it was previously. My skin is not as sensitive as it was a month ago, but I don’t know if I am destined to be one of those people with flawless skin and zero blemishes.
- Liza advised me to apply the cleanser and massage it into the skin and allow it to sit for a couple of minutes. During this time I will usually brush my teeth, which allows the cleanser to get to work.
- I have used Eve Lom muslin cloths for years and I begin with rinsing it under warm water then placing it over my face for about 5 seconds. I rinse the cloth again and begin to remove the cleanser by gently rubbing the cloth across my face. This is an exfoliation cloth so I try not to be too hard on my skin.
- Once I have cleansed my entire face, I rinse the cloth in cool water and place the cloth back over my face once again, to help close the pores.
- I then continue my skin care regime with toner and moisturizer.
This has been my cleansing technique for years so if you have any suggestions for me I would love to hear them! (One day I will upgrade to a Clarisonic from my Eve Lom cloth, I am thinking maybe Christmas).
Do you have any product recommendations for skin prone to breakouts? I would love to hear from you.
