This is my ONLY outfit post from Mexico! I was having so much fun that I didn’t take any other pictures of my outfits, but I will be putting together an outfit diary soon (recreated from home).
I have mentioned in the past that I used to work in Harvey Nichols in Dundrum, and while there, I took advantage of some insane bargains in the sale! One piece I have always treasured, but barely worn, is this Matthew Williamson printed kaftan from his Spring Summer 2007 collection. The Lotus print dress is absolutely stunning but I have yet to encounter a situation where it was appropriate to wear it in Ireland, so I have only worn it in Cancun and in Spain (two times in total, what a shame).
This kaftan dress was not on the actual runway collection but you can see the print from 3.50 onwards.
What I Wore:
Due to the bright and vibrant print of the kaftan, I decided to forgo any accessories and let the dress, orange shoes and metallic clutch do all the talking (or yelling).
This dress is so fabulous and over the top, it is exciting from all angles! I love the large bat-wing sleeves on the kaftan, and although you cannot see it, there is a turquoise silk slip under the dress, as the kaftan is sheer.
To match the bold print of the dress I opted for a bold fuchsia pink lip, which went with the fuchsia lotus flowers perfectly.
I opted for my Orange Jimmy Choos because the dress is so bright and wild, I though the shoes were just the right amount of a contrast. I may keep my eyes out for a fuchsia pair of heeled sandals for the next time I wear the dress.
I am so happy that I got a chance to wear this dress for the second time in its 7 years of being in my closet! It is a shame that I don’t get the opportunity to wear it more, but that is also what makes it so special.
Thank you for reading,
