Lately I have been spotting an Urban Decay Naked 2 palette dupe online, In the buff from W7, and even though I already have the Naked 2 palette, my curiosity got the best of me! A quick google search brought me to Cara pharmacy, located in the north west of Ireland, who stock a large range of W7 products, along with many other great brands.
What surprised me most about the W7 In The Buff palette, was the price; €6!!!! That is almost one tenth of the cost of the Urban Decay, which instantly made me a little reluctant to purchase. When I see a price like this, I automatically think of those terrible waxy eyeshadows that come in cheap childrens make up sets, and I would rather spend my €6 on just about anything else.
I carried out a little more research on the palette and found some good reviews on amazon and some beauty blogs, which persuaded me to bite the bullet and try it out!
I was delighted on this particular day, Cara Pharmacy were offering 20% off online orders so I ended up getting the palette for only €4.80! What amazed me even further was that I ordered the palette on Thursday afternoon, and it arrived via DHL Friday morning! Amazing service!!!
In the buff palette looked great, but I wanted to do a comparison against my Urban Decay naked 2 palette.
See pictures above; top palette is Naked 2, bottom palette is In the Buff, The image on the left is without flash and the image on the right is with flash.
As you can see the tones and colours are almost identical, particularly when exposed to a flash. Urban Decay certainly has more depth and a stronger pigmentation, but that is to be expected when it costs almost 10 times more.
Time to swatch In The Buff: the image on the left is without flash, the image on the right is with flash.
I was pleasently surprised with the quality from the W7 palette. The shadows apply smoothly and blend easily, some colours have stronger pigmentations than others, but overall the quality is great, especially considering the price tag.
The colours are not as strong when comparing them to the Urban Decay palette, but it is a great alternative to the Naked palette when looking for a softer look. In The Buff will probably take over as my day time makeup, while I will reserve my Urban Decay Naked 2 palette for nights out and bolder looks.
Have you tried the W7 In The Buff palette yet? I would love to hear your thoughts. I will be reviewing the two W7 bronzers that I purchased in an upcoming post.
