Please let me know that I am not the only one who goes to Boots to purchase one thing, ONE THING, and end up taking advantage of their 3 for 2 offers! This time I was replacing my foundation, Maybelline Fit Me liquid foundation in number 120, it is my everyday foundation that I have been wearing for about a year now. Seeing as there was a 3 for 2 offer on, I decided to try out some new products available.
This is a new formula for Mascara in Maybelline which is gel-mousse based. It is softer than usual mascaras and does not leave that stiff and hardened coating that many mascaras can leave. The brush itself is on a flexible joint, so applying it was a new experience for me. Usually when I apply mascara, I am used to the brush being quite stiff and use that to apply mascara from the roots to tips. As this brush is not as stiff, I find myself being more gentle with this brush, afraid if I push too hard I could end up with mascara surrounding my eye. This is not necessarily a negative, it just takes a little getting used to, as I have been applying mascara the same way for years.
The mascara leaves my lashes soft and volumised. I have yet to experience that flaky effect many other mascaras have, which usually leave small black flakes under my eyes.
The pictures above showcase the effects of the mascara, I am not wearing eyeliner in these pictures, and these are my natural lashes.
I love a good nude lipstick, but I foolishly picked up the lightest lipstick in the new nude lipstick range. It is simply far too light for me to wear as a lipstick on its own. I am not sure who exactly this lipstick would suit, but for me it looked like that ‘concealer as lipstick‘ trend that girls used to wear in their teens. I have however been getting good use out of this lipstick when creating an ombre lip look; I apply the nude colour on the center of my lips and another colour outside, giving my lips a fuller look.
As I mentioned in the beginning, I have been wearing Maybelline Fit Me foundation for about a year now. I use number 120 and love the medium coverage it offers. It is not heavy or cakey but gives good coverage all over which you can also build up. I use my Real Techniques expert face brush, which means a little bit of foundation goes a long way.
Are you a Maybelline fan? Which products should I pick up next???
